“The most pathetic person in the world is someone who has sight, but has no vision.” Helen Keller
“But you must remember, my fellow-citizens, that eternal vigilance by the people is the price of liberty, and that you must pay the price if you wish to secure the blessing. It behooves you, therefore, to be watchful in your States as well as the Federal Government.” — Andrew Jackson, Farewell Address, March 4, 1837
Edward Snowden has both insight and vision and a Set of BALLS! He is an American HERO, Champion of our Civil Liberties and HOPE for America. Mr. Snowden is the former CIA employee who was privy to Secret No-No’s and blew the whistle on the NSA and leaked its Secret Surveillance without probable cause on its citizens. He told the TRUTH – and exposed government wrongdoing! He proclaimed:
“I understand that I will be made to suffer for my actions, but I will be satisfied if the federation of secret law, unequal pardon and irresistible executive powers that rule the world that I love are revealed even for an instant… My sole motive is to inform the public as to that which is done in their name and that which is done against them.”
Mr. Snowden walked away from a near$200,000 salary and “paradise” job in Hawaii to “do the right thing.” “I don’t see myself as a hero, because what I’m doing is self-interested. I don’t want to live in a world where there’s no privacy, and therefore no room for intellectual exploration and creativity. I’m willing to sacrifice [my income and career success] because I can’t in good conscience allow the U.S. government to destroy privacy, Internet freedom and basic liberties for people around the world with this massive surveillance machine they’re secretly building.”
Unfortunately, Mr. Snowden is in hiding and the US government is looking for him; ready to charge him with Espionage and theft of government property (secret classified data of its own citizens). In the Name of National Security, Ed Snowden is being charged with a crime for reporting a crime (NSA’s violation of the constitutional rights of all Americans) and to make an example out of him for the sole purpose of silencing dissent! Unfortunately, when a whistle-blower exposes government waste, fraud corruption and criminal conduct; they are then deemed as “enemies” and targeted for prosecution because the US Government fears the “Truth” coming out and going public.
According to Daniel Ellsberg, the man who leaked the Pentagon Papers in 1971, “Edward Snowden is Saving Us from the United Stasi of America”He also states that:“In my estimation, there has not been in American history a more important leak than Edward Snowden’s release of NSA material – and that definitely includes the Pentagon Papers 40 years ago. Snowden’s whistleblowing gives us the possibility to roll back a key part of what has amounted to an “executive coup” against the US constitution.”
On his website at: http://www.ellsberg.net/, Mr. Ellsberg stated that:
“Since 9/11, there has been, at first secretly but increasingly openly, a revocation of the bill of rights for which this country fought over 200 years ago. In particular, the fourth and fifth amendments of the US constitution, which safeguard citizens from unwarranted intrusion by the government into their private lives, have been virtually suspended.”
And, in an interview on August 21, 2013, Ellsberg told the Huffington Post Live that the United States is on the verge of becoming a police state as evidenced by the National Security Agency’s data collection programs and the treatment of secret document leakers Edward Snowden and Bradley Manning.
“When people understand that their every conversation of every kind on phones, email, chat logs whatever, is being recorded and can be retrieved, that will certainly curtail people’s freedom of speech over any digital means,” Ellsberg continued in an interview carried on Huffington Post Live.
“It gives the government blackmail capability over the population at large . . . With the digital stuff alone, we have a surveillance capability that outmatches any police state in the history of humanity.”
“We have not only the capability of a police state, but certain beginnings of it right now,” he continued. He also stated that: “I absolutely agree with Edward Snowden. It’s worth a person’s life, prospect of assassination, or life in prison or life in exile — it’s worth that to try to restore our liberties and make this a democratic country.”
