Once upon a time, not so long ago — — right here on Earth; little Mayan had come a long way in her journey through her young life. Ultimately, she proceeded to love flowers. Everyday throughout spring and summer, she would visit Gram-Ma’s garden.
Anticipation was routine as Mayan knew that Gram-Ma would let her pick 1 or 2. Sometimes, 3, 4, 5, and once, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 — — a whole dozen! They were so beautiful and her mother was always surprised — — time and time again.
Gram-Ma was such a kind old soul with a green-thumb. She could always grow more — — said she; “go ahead — — indulge, pick 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6. Savior their Smell, their Beauty; Enjoy!” And believe it or not, Mayan surely did — — always. For the flowers made her day and night. She even dreamed about Gram-Ma’s precious passion.
Perhaps that’s why Gram-Ma called her garden — — ‘Mayan’s Paradise’. After all, Mayan would literally get lost in this ‘Field of Dreams’; this Paradise of Beauty, Awe and Wonder. I guess it would be safe to say that Mayan actually inherited Gram-Ma’s fancy for flowers as she became one with them and, they were her Friends. She put them in vases, wore one as a corsage and even kept one in her hat and socks.
Sometimes her cat Tig Tig, would come and hang out with her in the garden. Animals know a good thing when they see it as they appreciate Mother Nature. But, Mayan knew Tig Tig’s little secret? He just liked to hide way-way-way in the back and take a nap in the shade. There were so many Flowers in Gram-Ma’s Garden that — — Tig Tig blended right in Mayan’s Paradise as you could not find him unless you knew where he actually was. And that’s the way Tig Tig liked it — — At One with the Beauty, Awe and Wonder of Being.
Mayan Loved Tig Tig as much as she Loved Gram-Ma and her Flowers. She would never give up Tig Tig’s hiding-spot. For nobody but her and Gram-Ma knew about it. No body except the Flowers, the Birds, Bees, several Squirrels, 3 Trees, the Sun, Moon, and the Stars. Yes, sometimes Tig Tig would sleep there on hot Summer-nites.
Wouldn’t you iffin you knew where it was? After all, isn’t everybody searching for a Little Paradise — — Here on Earth?
Mayan was a very lucky little girl and she knew it. She was happy and grateful that she was blessed to have Gram-Ma, Tig Tig and her Paradise of Flowers. She couldn’t imagine her life without them. But ironically as life is so irony, so unpredictable; Mayan got the surprise or shall we say shock of her life — — Reality as all the Flowers were going bye-bye? Poor Tig Tig started to hide-n-sleep in a tree — — with the Squirrels?
Slowly but surely, Mayan knew deep down in the Heart of her Heart that something wasn’t quite right. Little by little, first 1 or 2; then 3, 4, 5, 6 began to wilt and whither — — away? Mayan was so upset; she did not know what to do?
Unfortunately, she kept her trouble to herself? She never expressed her concerns to anybody. Not even Gram-Ma or Tig Tig, whom continued to hide in trees — — daily? Maybe he was troubled too since he became a Watch-Cat? He wouldn’t sleep anymore. Instead, he spied suspiciously.
Alarmed by Tig Tig’s verifying indication, Mayan did the only thing she could think of. She sorta tried to Pretend and Wish and Hope it — — Trouble, Away. She even Prayed to God for help. Ironically, sometimes His answer is No?
But finally, one sad day, Gram-Ma found Mayan in her Garden of Paradise — — sad as sad can be? “What’s a matter Sweetie?” Asked Gram-Ma.
“They’re gone?” Replied Mayan sadly. “Every last 1, 2, 3?” Gram-Ma just laughed as she took the wilted bunch of Flowers, from her hand.
“Relax”, Gram-Ma continued with mercy. “Take a Deep Breath or two or three! Let me Enlighten you Girl. After all, life is an Education. Nature is our Greatest Teacher. As I see it, Death is a Perfect Example. Every Living-Thing must die. Death is a Test of Character, in the Fullness of Time.”
“Oh No!” Yelled Mayan. “No no no no, not you Gram-Ma.”
“Hush-hush Sweet Mayan, even me. It’s a Fact of Life, it’s a Natural Situation. Don’t make such a fuss or an ordeal over it. You must continue on your Spiritual Journey as each and every one of us is here to Learn.”
“Inevitably, there is a Time to Live and a Time to Die. In-Between, we get to Enjoy the Flowers, Birds, Tig Tig and each other — — Quality-Time. Rejoice in the Beauty, Awe and Wonder of Being! Live and Learn Angelically! Live and Love Unconditionally. Love is an Eternal Secret! For when Love is your Passion”, Gram-Ma consoled; “Peace is your Pleasure!”
Mayan started to cry as she jumped into Gram-Ma’s arms. “I Love you Gram!”
“And, I Love you too!” Replied, Gram-Ma. “God Loves you Unconditionally and God Loves the Flowers too. They’re not gone, they just went Home, to a bigger and better Paradise; to be with God in Heaven! Next year, there will be new Flowers to Enjoy. A Gift from God, to us. For God answers all Prayers, — — Eventually; one way or another, as our Father Knows Best. Until then, we get to Indulge in the Memories!”
